Monsanto's Executive Team declared that building a diverse and inclusive organization would give Monsanto a competitive advantage. The team recognized that diversity is central to our success. To sustain and grow our business across all world areas, we require diverse business perspectives and the flexibility to work with a variety of people wherever we conduct business. Our work must reflect and respect the cultures, ideas and interests of all the consumers we serve and the communities we touch.
Monsanto's commitment to diversity is reflected prominently in two key components of Our Pledge.
“We will listen carefully to diverse points of view and engage in thoughtful dialogue to broaden our understanding of issues in order to better address the needs and concerns of society and each other.”
Commitment to diversity results in programs aimed at external audiences, such as supplier diversity, as well as our employees. Programs supporting diversity among employees include people teams that cross both state and national boundaries allowing employees to bring different perspectives and skills to the table whilst learning from the views and skills of others.
Monsanto Australia, in particular, appreciates the value that comes from a diverse workforce. The diversity of our workforce is a direct result of our commitment to recruitment and selection procedures that are non-discriminatory starting with documentation such as person specifications and job advertisements down to our procedures used in interviewing, reference checking and testing.
We will also actively manage diversity day to day by finding ways to utilise the differences that exist within the workforce in order to improve our business and achieve our business objectives. This requires that we actively and flexibly seek to accommodate the unique needs of many different employees.
Above all, we are committed to ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
