For the 2009/10 cotton season, we have introduced the Cotton Choices program. After consultation with growers and industry it was clear that we needed to create a program that gave growers choice and an opportunity to add more value to their business.
Cotton Choices is designed to reward growers of Bollgard II® with Roundup Ready Flex® by enabling them to select from one of three choices, including price discounts or risk reduction options.
There has been no change to the base price of our cotton traits in 2009/10.
Choice 1 – Discount Offer
Growers who plant 80% or more Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex have the choice to take a discount on trait licence fees. The discount applies to the total area of Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex cotton area planted on all farm units for a trading entity. This offer includes extended payment terms until April 2010.
Choice 2 – Late Crop Removal
Late Crop Removal enables growers to remove their crop for any reason including hail, drought or herbicide drift, on or before April 20th 2010 and receive a 100% refund on their trait licence fee. Feedback from many growers highlighted the value of Late Crop Removal as a risk management tool. It is available on any amount of area sown to Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex.
Choice 3 – End Point Royalty pilot program
Growers can now choose to place all their Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex dryland cotton under our new End Point Royalty (EPR) pilot program. The EPR program will allow growers to plant cotton with the confidence that most of the trait cost is payable only when they get a crop.
