Canola Stewardship

Monsanto has implemented stewardship programs to allow the maintenance of market choice to produce GM or non-GM canola in Australia.

In addition to Monsanto’s Stewardship Program, the Australian grains industry has numerous processes in place to allow both GM and non-GM canola to be produced, handled and sold.

To maintain the sustainability of Roundup agricultural herbicide as well as Roundup Ready crops, Monsanto employs a range of Product Stewardship practices. One key focus area is the education of growers on the importance of following best practices and recommendations for weed resistance management, which are outlined in the Resistance Management Plan.

The Resistance Management Plan incorporates the Paddock Risk Assessment Management Option Guide (PRAMOG®). PRAMOG recognizes that each paddock has a unique glyphosate resistance risk profile and suggests management options to reduce this risk.
