Stewardship

Monsanto’s stewardship focus starts at the earliest phases of product conception and continues through all phases of product research, development, and commercial use. And it doesn’t stop when products are fully tested, approved and brought to market. In fact, that’s where some of our most rigorous processes come into play. Every commercial product has a formal stewardship plan and is subjected to a process of ongoing monitoring, research and review.

The Roundup Ready Flex stewardship program ensures that all persons involved in the growing and management of the crop have a good understanding of the legal requirements, agronomic considerations and application options associated with the technology.

A comprehensive Crop Management Plan (CMP) for Roundup Ready Flex cotton has been developed by Monsanto Australia, in consultation with researchers, growers and the cotton industry. The plan is designed to protect the sustainability of the technology and aid in minimising the risk of the evolution of glyphosate resistant weeds in the Australian cotton production system.

The CMP involves six parts as listed below.

  • Training and Accreditation
  • Communication
  • Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance
  • Adverse Event Reporting
  • Non Compliance
  • Crop Management
