Our first commitment is to help farmers produce more and meet the needs of a growing planet.
Specifically we will help farmers use improved seeds and agronomics to double the yields of corn, soy and cotton crops over the 30 year interval between 2000 and 2030.

Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex provides Australian cotton growers with sustainable tools to effectively protect crop yields. In addition, by spending less time focused on insect and weed control, growers can focus on getting more out of their crop through improved irrigation and nutrition management.

With Bollgard II technology, farmers can plant cotton in areas of high pest pressure areas where conventionally grown cotton would be unsustainable.

Increased oil content and yields with Roundup Ready canola over comparative canola systems.

Feedback from growers involved with a limited 2008 release of Roundup Ready canola was overwhelmingly positive. 100% of the growers surveyed stated that they would grow Roundup Ready canola again.

Growers are citing increased yields and oil content above that of Triazine Tolerant and Clearfield growing systems – all this with the use of less toxic herbicides.

Within the Monsanto pipeline, we’re developing many exciting opportunities for Australia’s cotton industry such as water use efficiency (WUE) and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) traits.

For WUE, our goal is to select a cotton trait that will improve yield under drought stressed conditions by 10% over cotton without the WUE gene, and to decrease the water demand of the cotton plant by 20% per bale.
